HOW I SAVED MONEY ON TRAVELS

I'm still young and broke so I have not travelled the whole world yet, but definitely travelled more than most than people my age. According to popular beliefs, traveling is a very expensive hobby and only those who are rich get to travel the world right? Well, I used to think that way as well.

Here are the frequently asked questions:
1. How did you get to travel so often?
2. Where did you get all the money to travel so often?
3. Are you a rich kid?
4. How much did you spend on your travels?

Here's the truth, I'm definitely not rich, but i'm lucky enough to have my parents supporting me, but that doesn't mean I used my parents' money for travels. Sometimes I even lucky enough to get sponsored  or even get paid to travel by tourism boards to places I never been before in exchange of social media postings. However, since I'm a smaller tier content creator, i'm not that lucky enough to always get sponsored to travel. Here's the truth, you don't need to be rich to travel the world, but you definitely need to be smart in budgeting and saving money.

via GIPHY

1. TRACK YOUR SPENDING

Yes, we are doing the traditional way. Track your spending!

Understand your priority, do you want spend that $500 on a dress that's gonna last you a year before u got bored of it or $500 air tickets for an experience of a lifetime? If your priority is the later, track every of your spending and make you sure to reserve a little bit of your money for travels.

What I did was, I downloaded this app called "Expense Pocket", basically it's for me to key in every of my spending. After using it for months, I slowly cut down my spending to achieve my ideal budget for travels.

It's definitely a powerful tool to identify the money you wasted on things you don't actually NEED. RECORD EVERYTHING DOWN, You may be surprised on how much money you spent in that period of time. Overtime, you'll slowly pick up the master of tracking your spending, you'll come to realise you have more money to spend on travels than you think you did.

2. CUT DOWN SPENDING ON THINGS YOU DON'T NEED

jeng jeng jeng. We, millienials love to spend on things we don't need, especially things we couldn't afford. The peer pressure of trying to look cool, buying things that's over your budget, is not cool at all! I always live by these words, don't be broke to look rich.

I know I know, the instagram pressure and everyone else have the latest gadgets or latest luxurious bags makes you wanna buy it. If you actually think it through, these "materials" don't last, after a period of time, you'll get bored and you want more, which leads to MORE SPENDING.  However, for travels, you will never get bored of the experience you had when you travel, you'll keep looking back at the memories and experience you gained from the trip. No one actually said: " Remember the times I had iphone 5s, i miss that...." lmao. Instead, people actually say:" Omg I miss the times I was in UK, it was fun!"

3. SELL THINGS YOU DON'T NEED

" I dont have anything to sell.." NO, DONT LIE. I'm sure you have a lot of things to sell. I'm sure you have tonnes of clothes that you don't even wear or wore once after years of purchasing it. Sell them at the nearest thrift store or sell it online! There are so many online platform that allows you to sell things online. After you sell your trash online, not only you ease the burden of cluttered space, you have monies to travel too!

4. DO BUDGET TRAVELS

"uh.. i dont wanna do budget travel, I prefer luxurious travel.." So, uhm, then why are you here reading this post? I'm sure you're tight on budget, but have the strong urge to travel, that's why you're here! Am I right or am i right? Your budget travels not necessarily means that you really don't need to spend anything. What I usually do, is wait for air tickets promotion, airlines like Air Asia loves to do promotion and sales, i'm not paid for saying this... I am an frequent flyer of Airasia, so I always wait for promotion to score myself cheap air tickets.

If AirAsia is not exactly that cheap and you wish to find a cheaper alternative, you can use Wego. Apps like Wego scanned through flights around the world and project the best options in terms of price range for you.

Another way to budget your travels is to not splurge on accommodation, if you wish to explore the city, I really don't see the point of you trying to book a 5 star hotel, you're only in hotel for sleep and shower anyway, most of the time you'll be out of the Hotel. So for me, I would suggest getting yourself a cheaper rate of accommodation from online platform like Airbnb, if you would like to save even more, go for alternative like staying in a hostel. Some people may like, "uh what hostels?" well, Hostels are not exactly that bad,  when I travelled alone to Taiwan, i stayed in a hostels living with different people in a room, the hostels are clean and people are friendly, you'll make friends along the way too, also it saves you tonnes of money for to explore the city! You can find hostels in Hostel world.

If you're not sure what's your budget for certain destination, you can always use this platform call Budget Your Trip to roughly know the budget of your ideal trip, it may not be accurate, so always do research of places you want to go, opt for free places to visit! What I usually do is I will not shop for anything, until the last 2 days of my trip, but that is solely depends on urself and I'm not a heavy shopper anyway!

5. EARN SOME MONEY AS YOU TRAVEL

If you have the ability to earn money as you travel, great! you don't need the hassle to save that much. I personally does travel blogging, sometimes, I do earn a little money when I travel, for example, I do a hotel review in certain country or states, in exchange of marketing, they can either give free-stays, or both free-stays and monetary remuneration. Things like that. If you're not a blogger yourself and wish to earn as you travel, try doing work and travel programme. You get to work in certain country for up to 4 months and travel for a month, Infinity Abroad is one of the agency who helps you to secure the programme, you can check them out!  I don't know what skills you may have, but i'm sure there are options.

So I guess that is all, saving money may not be easy, but if you set your priority right, you'll find in a little less difficult to save than yesterday. Try in small steps, sooner or later, you'll be better at it.

That's it, happy travels!

Top 4 Instagrammable Spots In Cambodia (Siem Reap)

Many have actually told how beautiful the picture was during my Cambodia trip on my Instagram. Getting the right angle, the right editing does the trick as well. A month ago, I booked a last minute ticket to Cambodia, just to visit my friends whom I met from the states 2 years ago. Anyway back to my favourite photo spots in Siem Reap, Siem Reap itself is really picturesque, you could find an amazing photo spots almost everywhere.

1.  Sunrise at Angkor Wat

This. is. a. must. Angkor Wat is magical place that anyone must visit, not only the history and the architecture and engineering behind is amazing, it's definitely a beautiful place for you to watch the sunrise and for you to get your instagram game up. I suggest you depart from your hotel around 5am and get a good spot opposite the lake before Angkor Wat, you might wanna get a good spot for picture because after that, the place will be flooded by tourists who wants to get a good picture for sunrise too.

2. Inside Angkor Wat

Ofcourse, you should never miss the grand and majestic Angkor Wat. You might wanna cover up when you go in Angkor Wat because it's such a sacred place, you were not to expose your skin. My rebel self tho, took off my cover up just for a great picture. Note that, the Angkor Wat is really really huge, remember to keep urself hydrated while exploring the majestic Angkor Wat.

3. Beng Mealea

Beng Mealea is not only the most interactive temple, with crumbling stone blocks acting as stairs to the temple’s many subterranean chambers, but it is also one of the most beautiful temple to explore. This nearly thousand-year-old temple covers several acres of jungle terrain and is made up of a handful of libraries and courtyards. It takes about 1-2 hours to get here from the main town, but it's definitely worth the visit for this hidden gem.

4.Bayon

The Bayon was built nearly a decade after Angkor Wat. If Angkor Wat looks massive and impressive, Bayon lends a mystical touch . A plethora of towers, almost 40 of them with carved faces gape at you as I realize that they are arranged in a staggering manner to form a stone mountain with smaller peaks. I spend so many hours here and yet I feel that i didn't have enough time to look at all sculpture or photograph the faces.  The Nagas, the Apsaras, the Gods and the demons definitely transport me to a different world.  Getting a picture here was easy, they weren't too many people visiting the place. so I definitely suggest u guys to visit Bayon.

what's your favourite spots?

5 Things to do in Kuala Lumpur - Holiday Inn Express

Yes, I've been travelling around the world but I never talk about the things you can do in my own city Kuala Lumpur. Kuala lumpur is one of the developing in South East Asia and often a forgotten place to visit because of all the amazing country surrounding it. I too, am guilty of this, because I favour travelling out more than exploring in my own backyard.

Just a few weeks ago, I was privilege enough to collaborate with Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur to create this content for you all. My stay in Holiday Inn Express was pleasant and I loved every minute of it. Holiday Inn Express is definitely a limited and cheaper version of the famous Holiday Inn Hotels, but it has all you need in one building. It is compact, and perfect for people that's always on the go that don't prefer to spend big cash just to stay few days in a city! That is including me, staying there for 48 hours, there were so many activities that can be done around Kuala Lumpur because the hotel itself is located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

10-minute walk from upscale shopping at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and 1 km from the iconic Petronas Towers. It's 8 minutes' walk from Raja Chulan monorail station.

Rooms with colourful, contemporary decor feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screens and iPod docks, along with minifridges, tea and coffeemaking facilities, and bathrooms with rainfall showers.

A complimentary breakfast buffet. Additional amenities include a 24-hour fitness centre and laundry facilities.

Things to do In Kuala Lumpur

1. Shop till you drop in Bukit Bintang
Bukit Bintang is ofcourse the shopping heaven of Kuala Lumpur, you will find the cheapest things to high-end stuff here. My favourite place to go is of course Pavillion. Pavillion is the shopping mall for everyone, you can shop, eat, watch movies and everything! If you prefer a cheaper shopping option, you can always visit Sungei Wang.

2. Visit Hipster cafes

Kuala Lumpur has a lot of hidden hipster cafes. One of the cafes that I visited was greyhound cafe that is located just outside of Farenheit 88 (in bukit Bintang), can I say, that I loveeee their interior, it has Parisian vibes into it. Not only their food taste fantastic, the price of their food is quite affordable as well.

3. Satisfy you tastebuds in Jalan Alor

Jalan Alor is the food heaven for every foodies out there, if you're looking for local Malaysian food, you must visit Jalan Alor! Jalan Alor is basically a street with lots of hawker food restaurants located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, it's walking distance from Bukit Bintang.  I, as a Malaysian myself absolutely love this place, it's always a place to go for supper after a drunk night :P

4. Bar Hopping in Changkat

If you're looking a place to drink, you may consider Changkats street. Changkat has different types of bars for different types of personality, also you could find really cheap drinks from here. May I warn you, it can be a little bit rowdy because of drunkards but if you can take care of yourself, it's definitely a place to go.

5. Party Hard in Trec KL or Zouk KL
As compared to Changkat, Trec is a hub centre with places to eat and drink. Mostly drink. I absolutely love Trec KL, and I must say I prefer Trec KL more than Changkat because it's classier, more civilised and safer as compared to Changkat. If you ever visit Trec KL, you should definitely party your nights away in Zouk KL. Zouk KL is one of the top clubs in world, in Zouk Club itself has more than 8(?) rooms? I dont know but they have definitely a lot of rooms in the club for people with different taste of music. My favourite clubs in Trec KL is Artebar, Red Room, Trak, and ofcourse Zouk KL.

Trendspotting: The Straw Bags

When we talk about straw bags, immediately you would think the "pasar pagi" straw bags that aunties like to bring around to get their vegetables, but who knew that straw bags could be a fashion statement. I immediately drawn into this Straw bags trend channeling summer and boho vibe when I see it in Alexa Chung. As we all know, Straw bags is a key accessory and it's Jane Birkin signature accessory since the 1970's.

Summer is around the corner, and I definitely think that Straw bags is such a cute accessory to pair it up with your clothes & have I told you that I'm so in love with bright colour recently especially bright yellow and mustard colour. What's not to love?

PRP Treatment @ Premier Clinic

So, I got PRP injected to my under eye area, and cheek area.

What is PRP?
According to Wikipedia,

" Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from whole bloodcentrifuged to removed red blood cells. It has a greater concentration of growth factors than whole blood, and has been used to encourage a brisk healing response across several specialties, in particular dentistryorthopedics and dermatology."

Yes, basically they injected your own blood cells into your own face to promote healing. It is basically  process whereby blood is drawn from the patient's body in a manner similar to that of a blood test, which is then placed in a machine that separates the blood cells, platelets and serum. This is then re-injected into the area of the face requiring treatment or rejuvenation.
HAHA. my face tho. That's the numbing cream on my face.
I was lucky enough to have this chance to try out PRP. Apparently, Kim Kardashian uses this treatment for her face as well. After a consultation with the doctor, she was very friendly. She told me that I have a really serious issue with dark circle, and a little bit of acne scar around my cheek area. I personally recommend this treatment because it definitely made some changes in my under eye area and some of my acne scars are less visible as well. The difference with this treatment and other treatment is that, they uses your own blood and not some random chemical and inject it on your face, so it's pretty much safe.

 Before.
My dark circle super visible and my eyes are more sunken in.

After
You can see the instant result of my eyes, dark circle less visible. My cheek are rosy red due to the blood that been injected in.

This treatment takes around only 60minutes. After the treatment, there were minor swelling and bruising for about few days, but it subsided pretty fast, so no worries about that.

If you are interested you can always head on to Premier Clinic, and here's the address.

OOTD: YOUNG WILD BROKE

 Jumpsuit: Monki
Sneakers: Adidas originals
A funny story when I did this shoot, we wanted to find a great place to shoot but I didn't wanna do anything too commercial like what I always did, simple and nothing special. Instead I wanted to get down and dirty; so I did something that is out of my comfort zone and shoot somewhere dodgy. I mean, we still young and why not do something a little fun and out of comfort zone aye? Turns out, I really love the picture although half of the time I was struggling with the heat and humidity + the pee smell in the underground alley.

How To Slay Valentine's Day

Valentine's day is coming! It can be one of the most loved celebration but can also be hated as well. For those that have a date on the day, I hope you and your partner will have an amazing love stories. For those that don't, remember that being single is not a crime and remember to always love yourself first!

I have a story to tell and usually I'm not the kind who likes to talk about my relationship but the public knows that I dated this person for quite a long time and i was in a toxic relationship which i never realise until i was out of it. This person changed as time goes by, instead of making me feel i'm the most beautiful person on earth, he made me feel i wasn't good enough for him. Don't get me wrong, I still cherish every moment that I had with him, the good ones of course, because he was part of my life; people change, but memories don't. I can't blame him tho, he was young and I believe one day he'll learn his lesson and treat his new girl better. If you ask me if I hated him for cheating on me and being back and forth with the new girl and me, yes, I used to hate him so much. But, I don't anymore, in fact, I'm grateful. I'm glad he showed me his real self to me and walked away from me, because if he didn't, I wouldn't be as happy as I am now. I forgive him and he deserves to be loved and not condemned by his actions towards me. Everybody makes mistakes.

So girls, if you're in a relationship and happy; i'm happy for you. If you are not happy and constantly feel like you're lesser than you really are, love yourself enough to walk away from the relationship. Being single is not a crime, in fact being single is great, you'll learn to love yourself and stand up for yourself. Being single means you love yourself so much that you wouldn't settle for less than you deserve. Don't date for the sake of dating because you're lonely and date someone shitty. Love yourself first and one day, you'll wake up everyday to the man you love and thank god for all the heartbreaks you've been through. Why date a good looking fuckboy and try to change him for you, when you can wait for someone great that give you the love you deserve from the start?

So that is all, for my little love advice and personal experience.

SOooooo here comes something fun.....

I have not been doing lookbook for awhile now, so decided to do a fun one for Valentine's day! I hope you enjoyed this video, remember to subscribe xx

What To Do In Krabi For 48 Hours

Yes, we were In Krabi for 3 Days and 2 nights, and to be exact we were only there for 48 Hours. We reached Krabi in the morning on the 1st day, and the 3rd day we left at 8am. So to be exact we were only there for 48 hours. I do not recommend to stay such a short period of time because there were so many things to do in Krabi, but we couldn't do it all because of time constraint.

1. Explore Aonang Beach

When we reached, we wasted so much time walking around aonang area trying to figure out what to do while waiting for check in time in our villa. However, Aonang has a lot of things to offer, they have cool shops and nice restaurant for you to dine in. There have random tattoo shops, massage parlours! Typical Alvy, I went to the massage parlour and had  one of the best and the most painful massage I did in my entire life.

Massages service here is really cheap as well, you can easily get them around 250 baht for full body massage for one hour.

However, don't expect the food here to be cheap, because it's a tourist attraction after all, you can easily spend around 200baht per meal. If you're okay with street food, I recommend trying this street phad thai that we discovered a long the streets. It was only 80baht!

2. Kayaking in Ao Thalene

On our 1st day, of course, we decided to do something more adventurous. I never kayaked and i really wanted to do some kayaking. We went to Ao Thalene to Kayak, it was about 30-40 minutes drive from Aonang to Ao Thalene, so I do recommend to get urself a taxi if you travel in a big group, or rent a bike, if you know how to ride a motorbike of course. Ao Thalene is famous for its beautiful mangrove forest along the river. You will first kayak in open ocean, then you will then stop in this mini beach that you can rest and take good picture. If the tide is higher, you will able to kayak to more routes and visit more lagoon and caves, but too bad for us the tide was low so we didn't manage to see everything that Ao Thalene has to offer. Precautionary, you need strong arms! Kayaking in Ao Thalene took around 2 hours to finish, basically you will kayak for 7km! It was definitely one of the most tiring but ironically relaxing activity we did. Kayak in Ao Thalene cost 600baht per person. It's definitely worth it.

3. Island Hopping (Phi-phi Islands)

Monkey Beach

Krabi will not be worth it if you don't do island hopping, obviously. Phi-phi islands was beautiful! Scenery was amazing, the view was spectacular. I have no words to describe it. To get to Phi-phi islands, you will need to do a bit of research, probably walk around Ao Nang street to check out the best package that suits you. Phi-phi islands package can easily cost around 1200baht to visit phi-phi islands. My package was included with around 5 island stops, buffet lunch, transportation to and from your hotel. However, it was a waste of time for me to visit phi-phi island with the package that we bought. Because, it was all in a rush. We did not manage to stop all 5 islands and went down the islands, we were just brought to the island, and were asked just to take picture of the island from the boat. The two islands that we actually visited was, Bamboo island, Maya Bay and Phi phi Dom (for lunch) We stopped in Maya bay, and Maya bay was filled with people, too crowded I must say. We were only given 40 mins to explore Maya Bay, so we didn't get to relax by the beach and enjoy Maya Bay. We also went snorkelling but the wave was too huge and there weren't many things to see in the sea. We were given only 40 mins as well, but it felt like 10 mins. So, if you can afford a private boat, get urself a private boat, because you can schedule everything at your own time.

4. Discover Night Life in Ao Nang

Ofcourse, after all those crazy morning adventures, you need to explore the Krabi Night Life. It's definitely an eye opening experience. You don't get to see a lot of beautiful transgenders performing. Also, their beer is one of the best beer I ever tasted in my whole entire life. I'm never really a fan of beers but "Chang" beer really amazed me! It can easily cost only 90baht per can! If you're daring enough and open minded enough, you should definitely experience their strip club. It was my first strip club experience, I must say, it was.............weird. HAHA! but, definitely eye opening. If you ask me if ever want to go to any strip club again, I would say no...unless i'm in las vegas haha!

Basically, that's it! I hope you guys enjoy your Chinese New Year! :)

Zouk Out Singapore // Welcoming 2017

Hello guys! It's been awhile, very long time indeed. To be honest, I always have a hard time finding inspiration to write something on this dead blog. I know I shouldn't neglect it, but it was a tough tough tough year for me and all I wanted was a break from social media. And not see is as work, but a space for me to actually express and share my experiences. Ever since, I have due dates and everything else, I get very worked up and it felt like a core instead. Well, that's just a part of life isn't it, sometimes you feel motivated, sometimes you feel like you're going no where. However, in the midst of my life crisis, I was lucky enough to be sent to Singapore for Zouk Out Singapore by Zouk Marketing team.

I was very lucky and grateful that I had the chance to witness my favourites Djs playing. For example, Martin Garrix, Alan Walker, Hardwell, Wiwek and many other big names. My favourite set was Wiwek and Martin Garrix. Martin Garrix end the show with amazing fireworks and I loved every second of it. During that time, I wished i didn't had my phone out but just to enjoy every single moment of it. However, we are in this generation where social media is a big deal... so i did whooped out my phone anyway to record it. I'm glad I did tho. I'm going to post a video on my 2016 experiences because my youtube is really dead because of my demotivated issue.

So here's some of the pictures I took!

I'm writing here, not to really show my experience in zouk out because most of the time I was really tipsy and probably drunk or just enjoying the moment. I'm writing here to wish you guys to have a wonderful 2017. 2016 was a tough year for me, but it was a year that I learned so much things from the mistakes I made in 2016. It wasn't all bad, because I get to do a lot of things I love, for example, travel more often. But, I hope that 2017 will be better, with more opportunities coming and with more love and supports from people I truly love and care. I'm just truly grateful that I'm still alive to this day and to experience all the crazy things that most people don't experience. Happy 2017 everyone, I wish you all the best in your life.

Stay tuned to a goodbye 2016 video end of this week! Love you guys!
